Charlie is survived by his devoted fiancée, Diana Herrera of Independence; his father and step-mother, Robbie (Judy) Camp of Higginsville; his brother, Nicholas Camp of Higginsville; two sisters, Tiffany Camp of Blue Springs, MO, and Rachel (Mike) Aycock of Sedalia, MO; his maternal grandmother, Arlene Long of Higginsville; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended family.

A memorial service to honor Charlie’s life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Salem United Church of Christ, located at 1500 N. Main St. Higginsville, Missouri 64037. The service will be officiated by Rev. Andy Mockridge and Devin Hackler. Following the service, a celebration of life social will be held at 2:30 PM at the American Legion, located at 1001 W. 22nd St. Higginsville, MO 64037.

Charlie Camp, a beloved resident of Independence, MO, formerly of Higginsville, MO, was born on August 9, 1984, in Waverly, Missouri. He was the son of Robert (Judy) Camp of Higginsville and the late Sandra (Long) Camp. Charlie spent his formative years in Higginsville, where he was an active and sports-loving child. He excelled in full-contact sports, showcasing his talents and determination from a young age. Charlie graduated from Lafayette County C-1 and continued his active athletic career throughout his life.

Charles Robert Career: A Champion in Wrestling

Charlie’s wrestling prowess was evident as he became a three-time state champion. He achieved an impressive track record, placing 3rd during his sophomore year, 2nd in his junior year, and clinching the championship title in his senior year. Beyond wrestling, Charlie was a versatile athlete, participating in track and football during his high school years. His athletic achievements earned him a full scholarship to wrestle at Missouri Valley College. As an adult, he continued his sports journey by playing semi-pro football for the Independence Militia in the Midwest Regional Football League.

Charlie had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and cherished moments spent deer hunting with family and friends. He was also an avid supporter of the KC Chiefs and found joy in the freedom of riding his motorcycle. Known for his sense of humor, Charlie had a friendly and warm personality, quickly making friends wherever he went. His zest for life was evident to all who knew him, and he was widely regarded as one of the kindest individuals.
