1. Snackfest PDX

  • When: Sept. 15-17
  • Where: 100 Southeast Alder Street, Portland, Ore.
  • What’s happening: SnackFest is a free food festival featuring a wide array of treats from local food vendors, food trucks, retailers, and more. Enjoy live entertainment, food demos, educational sessions, and meet some of Portland’s culinary creators. There will also be special pop-up events by featured chefs.

2. Portland Polish Festival

  • When: Sept. 16-17
  • Where: 3900 North Interstate Avenue, Portland, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Immerse yourself in Polish culture at this festival. Sample traditional Polish dishes like pierogi, bigos, kielbasa, and placki ziemniaczane. Don’t forget to try Polish desserts like chrusty and sernik, paired with Polish beer. Enjoy live performances, polka contests, exhibits on Polish history and culture, and activities for all ages.

3. Apple Fest ????

  • When: Sept. 17, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: 11640 Southwest Boones Ferry Road, Portland, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Join Tryon Life Community Farm for their annual apple-themed festival. Activities include apple cider pressing, apple-themed games, apple desserts, tastings, and an apple dessert contest. Bring your favorite apple-inspired dessert to share.

4. Portland Juggling Festival 2023

  • When: Sept. 15-17
  • Where: Multiple locations
  • What’s happening: The Portland Jugglers are hosting a three-day festival featuring workshops, open juggling sessions, games, and a Vaudeville Extravaganza show at Reed College. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn a unique skill or enjoy entertaining performances.

5. Mount Angel Oktoberfest

  • When: Sept. 14-17
  • Where: Mount Angel, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Celebrate the harvest in Bavarian style at the 56th annual Mount Angel Oktoberfest. Enjoy over 50 food vendors, traditional Bavarian cuisine, an arts and crafts show, and family-friendly activities. Tickets are required for entry, with proceeds supporting a nonprofit organization.

6. The Maize at the Pumpkin Patch

  • When: Now- Oct. 31
  • Where: The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island, 16511 Northwest Gillihan Road, Portland, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Get into the fall spirit with a visit to “The Maize.” Explore the corn maze, pick pumpkins, and savor the season with your favorite pumpkin spice latte. “The Maize” is open until Halloween.

7. Chapman “Swift Watch”

  • When: September (One hour before sunset)
  • Where: Chapman Elementary School, 1445 Northwest 26th Avenue, Portland, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Witness the swifts’ aerial acrobatics as they return early this year. Gather at Chapman Elementary School around sunset to watch the swifts swarm before they funnel down the chimney. This natural spectacle draws crowds of spectators.

8. Dahlia Festival

  • When: Now-Sept. 30
  • Where: Swan Island Dahlias, 995 Northwest 22nd Avenue, Canby, Ore.
  • What’s happening: Explore nearly 40 acres of stunning dahlias at the Dahlia Festival in Canby. Admire over 370 dahlia varieties, enjoy picnic areas, food carts, live music on weekends, classes, and more. Admission and parking are free.
